Many grilling enthusiasts and meat lovers enjoy a charred exterior to their meats and vegetables, but research shows that this can be a dangerous health hazard. When meats are cooked at high temperatures, the charred exterior can form HCA’s (heterocyclic amines) and PAH’s (polycylclic aromatic hydrocarbons) that put you at an increased risk for prostate, pancreatic and colorectal cancers according to the National Cancer Institute. These are the same chemicals that run rampant in cigarette smoke and car exhaust. So ask yourself…do you really want to consume these?
The next time you’re grilling, opt for a less burnt serving of your favorite meats!

It’s an increasingly prevalent complaint among U.S. adults these days — lack of energy and fatigue. Here is what you can do to combat these…
One of the primary causes of lack of energy and fatigue today is a result of eating too many simple carbs and raising insulin (Hyperinsulinemia) to the point where we are reaching near peak levels of diabetes in U.S. This rise and fall in blood sugar mirrors fatigue throughout the day. Daily stress, diet high in simple sugars and lack of exercise have all added to chronic fatigue among today’s population.
This can be reversed, in part, by utilizing nutritional supplements. A diet high in simple carbs can cause the balance between Omega 3 and Omega 6 to be “off” — resulting in fatigue and tiredness. By supplementing with Omega 3 fish oils, we can shift back the balance back to proper levels seen throughout the population 4-50 years ago. This can dramatically improve energy levels!
In addition, 20-38 minutes of workout can improve muscle tone and muscle mass, burn excess calories and shift neurotransmitters in the brain to resolve adrenal fatigue and increase energy.
Finally, we need to work on reducing and removing stress. Downsize, scale back, practice gratitude. Review the GOOD things in life and what we DO have vs. what we don’t have. This type of meditation and mindfulness has been scientifically proven to improve productivity and energy.
To recap, here are the things you could start doing today to increase energy and to combat fatigue:
- Decrease simple carbs and sugars in your diet and replace these with healthier complex carbs like sweet potatoes, oatmeal and whole grains
- Start supplementing with Omega 3 fish oil supplements (these can be found at your local grocery or health supplement stores)
- Exercise at least 20 minutes per day!
- Practice removing stress through gratitude exercises and meditation
The summer of 2016 in the news:
Dr. Bafitis has had the unprecedented honor of partnering with a five-star resort hotel, The Four Seasons Resort. This hotel management company has over 90 plus hotels all over the world that are exclusively five-star. He is exclusively in the Four Seasons Resort Palm Beach MedSpa, where he is offering nonsurgical services. These services include Botox, the gamut of fillers, nonsurgical liposuction (CoolSculpt, SculpSure), and the only nonsurgical FDA approved skin tightening and skin lifting nonsurgical treatment, Ulthera. Dr. Bafitis and his staff of nurse practitioners and physician assistants as well as aestheticians are at the Spa in the Four Seasons Resort Palm Beach, and are available through the Four Seasons Spa and by appointment only.

Dr. Bafitis gives his advice on how to avoid the pitfalls of a non board certified plastic surgeon that face our South Florida community, and how to tell if the plastic surgeon you have chosen is practicing safe medicine.
South Florida has distinguished itself by literally being the cheapest area to get cosmetic surgery in the United States. This has been brought about by the fact that there are so many non-board certified plastic surgeons and non-plastic surgeons who are doing these procedures. It is not uncommon to see an advertisement for a cosmetic surgeon where at every case, a board certified anesthesiologist is present, and in reality, the “cosmetic surgeon” is the board certified anesthesiologist.
Dr. Harold Bafitis opens up about the darker side of plastic surgery: serious complications that can arise from non-certified and even non-surgeon physicians performing discounted surgeries in South Florida. How to avoid so-called “surgery mills.”
Dr. Harold Bafitis was the first doctor in the United States to pioneer the utilization of the latest that biomedical research has to offer. ACell uses your own stem cells in order to regrow tissue and promote healing. It can be used for major surgeries (e.g., abdominoplasty with hernia repair), wound care, and, as is talked about on this featured news broadcast, hair transplant surgery.
